THE MEETING
Bre and Evan met in DeKalb, IL while they were both attending Northern Illinois University.
We were introduced by one of Evan’s best friends who had met me while working at Best Buy. I was skeptical at first, but clearly it panned out perfectly!
THE FIRST DATE
Our first date was at a Drum Corps Show! Evan’s same friend who introduced us actually came along, as well, but quickly left us to hang out with other friends.
THE MOMENT
It’s hard to pinpoint an exact moment, because we both knew early on that one day, we’d like to get married. We also talked about our hopes and dreams in life and once we realized they aligned – we knew!

THE QUIRKS
Maybe not the quirkiest of things but we both share a love of reptiles! We currently have 2 turtles, 2 snakes, and 2 tortoises: with plans of getting many more in the future.
THE SONGS
Music is something very important to both of us and how we initially bonded when we first met. We love to listen to old records while cooking dinner or cleaning up around the house.
THE I LOVE YOU
Evan will say I said [I love you] first and I will say Evan said it first – either way, it was always mutual!
THE PROPOSAL
Evan proposed while we were on vacation with his siblings and their significant others. We were all doing an escape room and it was intense since we were down to the last 5 minutes. Little did I know, everyone was in on the proposal and was anxious to unlock the final box (that held the ring!). Evan quickly unlocked the box, pulled out the ring, got down on one knee and popped the question! I had absolutely no idea and was completely shocked, which was his ultimate plan since I can be hard to surprise!

THE WEDDING DAY
Bre & Evan celebrated their wedding with us on September 24, 2021.

Our favorite part of the day was getting to celebrate our love with our family and friends. Because of COVID, our wedding was one of the first big events that our family and friends could come together and it was great getting to share that with them!

THE VENUE
We chose The Haight because not only is it absolutely beautiful and fit our wedding vision, but also because the staff! Everyone at The Haight was incredibly helpful and helped our wedding dreams come to life. We cannot say enough good things about The Haight!

THE ADVICE
Our advice for newly engaged couples is to plan your wedding the way you want it. Add the little details that make it more personalized to you! Also, enjoy the thrill of being engaged. You’re only engaged for such a short amount of time in comparison to dating and being married – so live it up!
THE MARRIAGE
Marriage hasn’t changed our relationship at all! Other than getting to share the same last name and getting to call each other husband and wife, which is pretty great!
THE SHOUTOUTS
All our vendors were amazing and truly captured our vision. Huge shout out to:
