Jordan and Steve first met in junior high and had the same group of friends while growing up. The two began dating the summer before their junior year of high school.
He is true to his word and will be there for anyone to give them a helping hand when they need it.
There wasn’t a definitive moment “like in the movies” where Jordan realized that Steve was the one for her. However, they got to a point in their relationship where they knew that being together for the rest of their lives is exactly what they wanted.
Steve proposed at Navy Pier on Jordan’s birthday. It is a very special place to both of them as they had shared a first date there.
We “stumbled” upon a caricature artist. Little did I know, Steve had called him prior to us arriving and set up a secret plan.
The whole time their photographer friend had snuck around in the shadows and took photos of them.
He was able to capture the moment the artist turned the finished drawing showing Steve proposing. Steve was down on one knee and I was saying, “yes!” We then wandered around Navy Pier taking engagement photos and then arrived on Odyssey Dinner Cruise to both of our families ready to celebrate.
When the two began planning their wedding, Jordan and Steve knew they wanted a winder wedding in some place warm, cozy, eclectic, and “different.”
The Haight was everything we were envisioning. Different. That’s the word I kept using that I wanted and until walking into The Haight, we weren’t able to find that.
Steve was involved in the wedding planning so much, that Jordan believes he thinks he should be a wedding coordinator now!
Steve was really involved in the planning process. Like really involved. From our flowers, to décor, to helping create our day of timeline, he was involved. All of a sudden he knew what was “in style.”
My favorite part was our first look and exchanging our vows in private. It was an intimate special moment where the day seemed to slow down.
Jordan’s advice for newly engaged couples is to take a couple of weeks to enjoy being engaged.
Don’t start planning right away. There’s plenty of time to plan and organize and it doesn’t need to be done the moment you get engaged.
