Mara & David 6.4.16 at The Haight

Mara and David both went to the University of Illinois and met while studying abroad in Granada, Spain and started dating when they returned for their senior year at U of I. They continued dating after college.  One weekend David and Mara went to her family’s lake house in Michigan. They took the boat out early in the morning for what Mara thought was going to be appetizers and drinks. Once in the middle of the lake David stopped the boat and popped the question!

While wedding planning they fell in love with the loft look and found The Haight. They chose it for the warm feeling they got here, unique décor, large dance floor, and the ability to make the space their own!

Their favorite part of the day was their first dance together as husband and wife. It was a special moment between the two of them under the string lights while friends and family surrounded them!

Mara’s advice for newly engaged couples beginning to plan is that there are so many photos, blogs, Instagram accounts, magazines, etc. out there, that it can feel a little overwhelming.  Just when you think you have figured out the style of wedding you want, you may see a photo of something completely different and start second-guessing the track you’re on.  Don’t!  You’ll never be able to put all of the ideas out there into one wedding, so just go with your gut and stick to it!
