One of the most fun aspects about modern day weddings is how people have taken the traditional and turned it into something fun and new. While nontraditional wedding cakes have been popular for quite some time now, only recently did people actually ditch the cake and opt for something else. Because our space is unique and unconventional, why not try something other than just cake? Here are some fun and nontraditional ideas for your post-dinner treat!
Just a little outside the “traditional cake box,” cupcakes allow for easy serving to the guests and the opportunity to get creative with an interesting cake stand. This still keeps the integrity of cake while adding a fun and modern touch.
We’re sure everyone’s noticed the donut craze that’s been going on lately– and we are not mad about it. Donuts, again, are an individualized treat for everyone that eliminates the prep of serving the cake. You can get matching donuts or a variety to please everyone at the wedding.
Another option of creativity is the option to do mini pies for each guest or to tier your pies like the second picture shows. With multiple pies usually means multiple flavors, so each guest leaves happy.
Dessert tables are perfect for the crowd that likes variety. Many guests will include items like cupcakes, macarons, a miniature cake, or even an interactive table, like a self-serve sundae bar. The possibilities are endless.
Cake pops are another step off cupcakes that allow for that individualized style of serving. These are great for a lively crowd- people that can grab a cake pop and head to the dance floor. They’re also perfect in combination with other desserts.
Rice krispie treat cakes are certainly not close to your traditional wedding cake, but they are sure to spark some childhood memories. This kind of treat is perfect for those who want to stray from the cake theme but still have a gorgeous display.
It’s like cake- but more decadent. Spruce up your tiered brownie cake with florals, fruit, or traditional powdered sugar. Drizzle chocolate to convey a waterfall feel. Have fun with it.
Macarons add a perfectly elegant touch to any wedding. Add a mini cake and lavender for a more natural and rustic feel, or display different shades of pink for a summer wedding.
Glue Oreo cookies together with icing in a tiered cake fashion or bring in chocolate covered fruit for the guests without a big sweet tooth. Practically every dessert has been made into a “wedding cake,” so think of something you and your guests could get excited about.
There’s something classic and timeless about a white cake, but dessert displays like this add a modernized touch to your wedding. Who’s to say you can’t do both?
